The Secret - Costume
For costume, we have instructed the two male actors to wear their normal clothes so that we can normalise all sexualities and show that they are just like any other teenage boy in Northern Ireland.
For the mothers costume, we are going to dress her in dark colours such as black and navy, in order to show how conservative she is. We want her clothing to be relatively plain, to show that she tends to conform to the physical (and therefore all other) standards that surround her, particularly those of politics in Northern Ireland.

During filming yesterday, Tiarnan helped us choose what he would wear as we wanted it to be natural and something that he would wear on a daily basis, something that represents your average Northern Irish teenager. Here you can see Tiarnan's trainers that he owns and chose to wear himself.
As we had to change the role of the mother to a sister, the clothes have a slightly younger feeling in them however, we kept the theme of dark clothes to show conservativeness.
